This morning I was reading a book that I started about six months ago and still haven't managed to finish it... It's a good a book, but with all the reading for my classes, I cannot find time to read for leisure. Now that I have a week off of classes (No, not spring break, Grad Students don't have spring break), I can do some fun reading. The part of the book I read today was about confession and forgiveness... It seems to be a theme in my life... Forgiveness... Which it should be a theme, it seems like a bigger theme in my life then most... Probably because I grasp the concept of forgiveness of others... I can't seem to forgive myself. But the chapter didn't talk about that.. It was about confessing to a friend and that friend proclaiming forgiveness upon your life. Kind of like a priestly proclamation. Not that I am catholic, but it seems like they have something going on there with confession (The part about confessing there sins to one another.. Not the Hail Mary’s and stuff like that).
Well this is what got my attention today, an excerpt from Bonhoeffer, "Who can give us the certainty that, in the confession and the forgiveness of our sins, we are not dealing with ourselves but the living God? God gives us this certainty through our brother... The assurance of forgiveness becomes fully certain to me only when it is spoken by a brother in the name of God. Mutual, brotherly confession is given to us by God in order that we may be sure of divine forgiveness."
Part two!
Tomorrow I am going to corona to train and ride horses... I'm really excited. I am helping out a lady from my church and I am kind of nervous. I haven't been on a horse in about oh... thirteen years... I love animals and have wanted to ride horses for sometime! I hope I remember how to..It's been a long time. I'll let you all know how it goes... I better get out my boots from my time of being in FFA (Future Farmers of America)... Yep, I was in FFA... ha-ha!

I used to make fun of the FFA members. Can I ask for your forgiveness?
So I think that what you wrote about forgiveness is incredible and something that is very timely as that is something I have been dialoguing a lot about with my roommate. She actually spoke in senior chapel like three weeks ago about forgiveness towards God, ourselves and others. It was good and kind of spurred the beginning of a conversation with God about it. So thanks for your input and your honesty Kyle. I value our friendship.
Good post Kyle! Here Here. So I totally agreed with the whole confession thing...something I've been trying to figure out as well. Good luck with the horesys! Are you gettin the white jeans out too???
